Valentine's Day

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.  It's kind of odd, seeing as how I love holidays, but I'm perfectly fine with this holiday coming and going without much effort from me.  There is always next year to get fancy.

Maybe I'll put red food coloring in the girls' milk in the morning and call it good.

I did get sparkling cider to make our dinner fancy.

Last week Ryan said he had my Valentine's Day card all ready.  And then he started laughing.  I wonder if this year's card beats the year that he made one that said, "If a grizzly bear mauled off your face, I would still love you."

Aww, he loves me.

This was the first year of having to be ready for a school Valentine's Day party.  We made homemade Valentines, because for me, it seemed the easiest way to appease my girls and keep it simple.  First - my girls love personal, handcrafted things.  BUT, that can get crazy.  So, they helped by telling me what they wanted their cards to look like (A picture of them with Hobbes - two of their favorite things), and then they helped me take the pictures.  After they were in bed, I did a little Photoshop action with my creative cat phrases, printed them off, and hot glued on the candy.  Ryan gets credit for setting up the printer, and cutting out the cards.  Simple and cheap homemade cards that bring a smile to their face, while keeping me sane.  Win-Win.

Hobbes might not be so sane after the said photo-shoot.

50 pictures and it is terribly hard to get 5 year olds AND a cat to look and hold still.

And I don't know why, but when I work on things in Photoshop, they look great.  But, after saving them and reopening the image, it appears more greenish.  Frustration.

But, these still turned out cute, even if they are a tad green looking.

and here are some out-takes:

No wonder he doesn't like pictures.  We appear to choke him.  (Don't worry.  No animals were harmed in the making of these Valentine's.)

Wishing everyone a wonderful Valentine's Day AND Statehood Day.  Yay for Arizona turning 100!
