Different

I better not leave my money post up for too long.  People might think I'm going to start making my 5 year olds pay for their own shampoo and conditioner.

I'm a different mom than I thought I would be.  Growing up I never really thought about bedtime, or "spoiling your dinner", washing up, asking to be excused from the table.  I don't remember chores at 5 either.  I didn't learn what double dipping was until high school (maybe even college?).  We just went to bed when it seemed right and ate dinner until we didn't want to eat anymore.  I eventually learned to clean and was a good little cleaner of the house (just maybe not my room).  And my siblings and I grew up into fine individuals who contribute to society.  We were raised well.

But now as a mom, I find that with my personality and the fact my children come in pairs, I thrive on structure and organization.  This includes instilling a few extra rules.  I worry at times that I'm the 'uptight' mom that as a child I thought moms were if they insisted on eating your brussels sprouts or having a more strict bedtime.  However, it's all in perspective.  I think I would actually be more uptight if I didn't parent the way I do.  I may ask them to wash up before dinner but I still think they will grow up into fine individuals who contribute to society.  And I hope I'm raising them well.

Same life goals, different mode of transport.

Good thing there aren't strict rules on parenting because I think we all like to make our own.  I have 4 girls and if history repeats itself these 4 girls will all have different views on how best to parent as well.

Pretty sure Annie is going to take her family on lots and lots of bike rides and walks.  And Elsa will craft all day with her family.  Lucy will make sure everyone has their own space and Leta will have several dogs.

They are so adorable. I think you are right- we all have our own way of parenting. Just because it is different doesn't mean it is wrong. I really liked this post. :)
